Curtin Fitness Centre, Curtin Volunteers and Granny Smith mine have contributed to bring gym equipment to Red Town. With much appreciated donations of equipment, time and labour the combined effort has provided enough gear to start a functioning fitness centre in Red Town. The support of Wongatha Wonganarra also needs to be recognised. The search now begins in earnest for a building in which to house the Red Town gym.

Work has commenced on The Great Beyond. The interior of the building is slowly taking shape in Red Town’s new museum. Set to become the pride of the Northern Goldfields, the explorer’s museum is on track to open in early 2011. This is a must see for everyone in the Year of the Outback.

Red Town Carols in the Park are scheduled for Sunday the 18th December. Everyone is welcomed to come and join in the fun and festivities as the town unites to celebrate Christmas in traditional Australian style. Also featured will be performances by the youth group and Wongatha Wonganarra.

Saturday 27th May saw another successful holding of the annual Wheelie Bin Day. Much fun was held by all with all teams putting up a fight to the end. Except the Shire of Red Town team which has promised more training before next year. Thanks go to the Red Town Volunteer Fire Brigade for organising the day. We are already looking forward to next year.

Recent upgrades have now been completed at the Red Town Telecentre! Five new computers have been installed providing residents and tourists a more enjoyable computing experience and allowing faster internet and programme access. Already an increase in numbers has accompanied the upgrade. Jodie is now working on acquiring a multi-purpose printer to increase the quality and productivity of the monthly Sturt Pea and the overall operation of the Telecentre.

Tuesday July 11 will bring a large group of 9G Chamberlain Tractors to Red Town. An annual trek through Western Australia it has been two years since their last entry to town. Once again their fundraising efforts will be appreciated as the group attends darts night at the Sports Club. Everyone is welcome down to the Sports to welcome the Tractor Drivers on their trek up the Great Central Road and have fun with the usual darts crew.

It is now only two months until Red Town is invaded by a Caravan Safari Trek. With around 50 caravans arriving on August 30 this will be the largest group of tourists for the year to date. Only here overnight the group intends to get in as much sight-seeing as possible. Although a Wednesday night the party will again be raging at the Red Town Sports Club with dinner and a dance.
